Prof. Toshihiro Kumamaru of Kyushu University visit to Tobacco Research Institute of CAAS

Toshihiro Kumamaru, Professor of Kyushu University in Japan, visited to tobacco genetic breeding center of our institute in Nov. 23th 2015. He gave two academic reports, the topic are Construction of MNU-Induced mutant pools and high performance TILLING system for detection of SNPs in riceand  Genetic mechanism of the intracellular transport and accumulation of glutelin in rice.More than 30 researchers and students listened to the reports. Director Yuanying Wang of Tobacco Research Institute receipted Prof. Kumamaru and participated in academic discussion.
Prof. Kumamaru introduced the method of onstruct the Japan national rice MNU mutants and identification of mutant genes in his lab. And he showed the study that analysis of the factors involved in storage protein accumulation and transportation as example of taking advantage of MNU mutants. Then Prof. Kumamaru visited history hall of tobacco instituted, national tobacco resource center and tobacco EMS mutant center and breeding greenhouse in Jimo experimental station. During the visit he had a discussion on the usage of tobacco genetic resource with experts.
